Former Indian football team caption and current president of Hamro Sikkim Party Bhaichung Bhutia will auction two of his match jerseys today. Money raised from the auctions will be used in the upcoming Loksabha election in Sikkim.
Footballer turned politician Bhaichung Bhutia has started Hamro Sikkim Party to fight against corruption, unemployment, and rights of farmers. Arjuna award winner Bhutia will auction his two jerseys on htc-group.org. The auction will go live on Monday by 10 AM.
Former footballer has worn one jersey in ‘Match against Poverty’ which was organized by United Nations Development Programme, and another one was used in his last farewell match against Bayern Munich at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.
Both jerseys have the signature of most prominent footballers such as Zinedine Zidane, Figo, Zico, and other international players.
The highest bidder will get this jersey and money raised from the auction will be spent on upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Earlier Bhutia has joined Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress and contested in 2014 Lok Sabha election from Darjeeling, in which he lost against the opponent. In 2016, he again fought from Siliguri but again he was not able to win the election.
