Former Indian Cricket team caption Mahendra Singh Dhoni knocked the doors of Supreme Court of India for the unpaid dues by real estate company Amrapali.
MS Dhoni asks Supreme court to intervene
MS Dhoni was a brand ambassador of Amrapali from 2009 to 2016. His face was used for branding and marketing for the real estate giant. Now MS Dhoni is asking the court to intervene to get his remaining fees (around 40 crores) from the group.
According to times of India, Amrapali appointed Dhoni as brand ambassador in 2009, His face was used by the company to promote various hosing scheme. Ex Indian Skipper left the position in 2016 after the social media backlash by duped home buyers.
According to News18, total 38.95 crore is due out of which INR 22.53 crore is the principle and remaining INR 16.42 crore is interest calculated @ 18% simple interest per annum.
Dhoni has submitted copies of the contract between him and the real estate group Amrapali. According to him “It was agreed that the firm would provide Amrapali Group with exclusive right to use his (Dhoni’s) endorsement in connection with the advertisements, marketing, and PR activities. Also, it was categorically agreed that all the payments under the agreement were to be paid to the applicant (Dhoni) only.”
Around 42000 home buyers have filed a petition in Supreme Court for the possession of the flats they have booked in various projects of Amrapali.
Supreme Court allowed Delhi police to arrest CMD of Amrapali group Anil Sharma along with two other directors based on a criminal case filed against them.
