Himachal Pradesh Landslide: 22 Dead, 5 Missing After Flash Floods

In the last 24 hours, At least 22 people lost their lives in incidents of landslides, flash floods, and cloud bursts in Himachal Pradesh. Heavy rainfall triggered landslides and flash floods which results in a loss of human lives. Several people are missing and feared dead while at least ten suffered injuries.

 

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami told news agency ANI, “Many houses, roads, and bridges are damaged & many people are injured and missing. Our priority is to make sure medical aid reaches the injured persons; search & rescue operations are underway. We working on war-footing to restore road connectivity.” He added, “Equipment on the ground to re-channelize rivers that have changed their course. There has been a lot of damage to infrastructure. We’re working to bring back normalcy. I’m personally monitoring the situation along with all district officials & public representatives.”

 

According to officials, three people were killed after their house collapsed following a landslide in the Chamba district. The district emergency operation center said the landslide occurred at Banet village in Chowari tehsil around 4.30 am.
